relax

While carrying out a viewing at the weekend I stupidly decided to jump over a wall in an apartment I was showing. Now on a normal day a four foot high wall would be no problem but I guess having reached the big 40 this year my body was telling me slow down and maybe to act my age.

I have to take this opportunity to thank Martin and Monica at free spirit spa in Gozo www.freespirit.com.mt To say I feel better for the treatment I received would be doing them both a huge injustice. Thanks guys no wonder you are busy, but the two day wait was well worth it.

New Years resolutions

One of our many resolutions for 2009 beyond the obvious ones of cutting down on chocolate, coffee, smoking and increase from 400 sit ups per day to 700 (only joking :)) was to keep on top of our blog.

One of our real resolutions is to not speak of doom and gloom and how bad the economy is, we have decided to leave this to the professionals.

Our business is selling and letting property in malta and gozo, and believe it or not that is what we have been doing. Yes the market has slowed down and realistically prices have adjusted but the market is STILL moving.

A trend that we have noticed happening lately is sellers have been reluctant to reduce the advertised price of their property but have indicated that they would take an offer. Now of course it would make perfect sense for the seller to reduce his asking price in the first place but hey perfect sense and the property market do not always go hand in hand.

Because, of this we have decided ourselves to become more straight forward with sellers when pricing property. What you will see from us over the coming weeks is properties that are realistically priced or priced to sell as we say in the industry. If this means reducing the amount of properties we have for sale (which it clearly will) then so be it.

So if you are interested in selling your property please feel free to contact us for a free valuation but if you are only interested in putting a silly asking price on your property please DO NOT.

Now back to those sit ups ooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnne ;)

Another Happy Couple

Having viewed over 36 properties we are very pleased to have found Mr and Mrs P their dream home at last. With the current market the way it is it means that it is indeed a buyers market. Having had two offers turned down last year they were beginning to think that maybe they would have to compromise on their requirements. Our advice always was to bear with us and be patient. Their problem wasn't so much with the property but more so with the sellers.

Unfortunately for buyers they are faced with many sellers who do not have a mortgage on their property which means they are under no pressure to sell, having said this their is indeed many sellers that do. Times are changing in both Malta and Gozo like the rest of the world and buyers are scarce. We do feel that the market will come back it has to, how long that takes nobody knows but our advice to sellers is be realistic, present your property well, accept that the market has changed and be negotiable if you are looking to sell in the current market.

Should have done it years ago.

Hi everyone,

whilst we are being faced with so many stories regarding the economy, crime and terrorism in the UK, its very pleasing to be situated in such beautiful islands.

We left many friends behind when we decided to move ourselves dog and cat to pastures greener and that was difficult but to be honest we haven’t looked back since. I suppose everyone at some point in their lives has to make a decision on the future for themselves and family etc and we are very pleased we made ours. Don’t get me wrong we loved living in the UK and had many many happy times there but every time when I am out walking our dog along the beautiful cliffs in the hot sun or enjoying a glass of wine watching the sunset or even the sunrise (obviously with out the glass of wine) I cant help but smile.

I had a situation when we first arrived here (the second day in fact) where I was passed by another lady who was returning from walking her dog (she was an early riser I might add it was 6am and she was going home)as we stood chatting and she welcomed me to the islands etc she shouted back to me when I was leaving "enjoy your walk" enjoy your walk I thought to myself are you mad or maybe she had just polished off a nice glass of red to enjoy the sunrise;)

..then it suddenly dawned on me having spent so many windy rainy mornings in London I had learnt or rather conditioned myself to having my head down and getting this unpleasant chore over with. As I turned the corner of the beautiful county lane I was walking down it suddenly dawned on me "I am enjoying my walk" I can see the sea everyday and marvel at the way that it crashes against the ever changing coastline, never a keen gardener (especially when your garden is a 8 foot piece of concrete which is overlooked by half of London) I find myself smelling flowers, picking flowers alongside picking up pieces of stone, fossils and searching for sharks teeth embedded in the stone (no luck yet but success soon I am sure).

I passed the lady in question the other day (she was starting her walk and I was finishing I might add) and as I shouted back to her "enjoy your walk" it suddenly dawned on me I should have done this years ago ;)
